The Olive Branch Nancy Dabbs Animal Brith Control
(TNR COMMUNITY CATS) Program*

In honor of our beloved board member,  Nancy Dabbs,  we have dedicated our Animal Birth Control Program to her memory. The Olive Branch Animal Rescue and Refuge Nancy Dabbs TNR Program. This program is made possible through the donations and support of your community and tireless fundraising by our staff and volunteers.

The Trap Neuter/Spay Return Program or TNR (Community Cats) is a program to manage the population of stray and feral cats in the community by effectively and humanely controlling their breeding, feeding, and housing.  The concept is to trap, alter, and return these cats back to their established territories, which are managed by individuals maintaining feeding stations and housing for the colonies. Help with feeding stations, housing, and food will be provided by the Olive Branch Animal Rescue and Refuge, Inc.TNR works by removing the vacuum effect. When cats are trapped, altered, and removed, the area is then open to new unaltered colonies to form.  Returning the altered cats, the territory is maintained by the established colony, NO NEW KITTENS! TNR for the community cats has been proven to work in many areas all over the country and abroad. The advantages to this program are many: no more kittens being born, altered males do not spray and fight, noise is  reduced, rodent  control is maintained, a less visible  colony, and  new unaltered colony is prevented from forming.  On a community level, there is a drastic reduction of the free roaming population, shelters have a lower intake rate and an  overall healthier cat population is maintained.
